MEINL Darbukas are made in the tradition of the original, esoteric goblet-shaped drums found in the music of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Darbukas are made of thin shells of various metals, each metal giving the different models their own distinctive timbre. The head is secured and adjusted with external rings placed close to the shell, in the Turkish style. Light yet powerful, darbukas have a deep, full bass. They are well-suited for high-pitched clicking sounds and a wide range of articulate "doum" and "tak" strokes.
