The pitches of the Melody Tongue Drum 14" D Kurd are based on the D minor scale, one of the most popular and accessible tunings for handpans and tongue drums. Because all the notes of the instrument fit together harmoniously, a melodic sound is always produced when playing, without any "wrong" notes. Composing on this tongue drum is particularly easy due to the central D(3) root note. Playing chords is also easy because the corresponding notes are always next to each other.
